As a Personal Stylist, I love helping my clients work with the clothes and accessories already in their closet...occasionally we add a few new, on trend pieces to update or complement existing outfits. A common question I get when working with clients is "what necklace do I wear with this neckline?" Consider this question and more officially answered... just in time for the New Year and a new, stylish you! The perfect accessories "finish" an outfit and help you look put together in an easy, effortless way. V-Neck I love to style v-necks with either a long pendant necklace or layered necklaces. For a more simple, classic look, wear one dainty necklace - just make sure it hits right at your decolletage. Turtleneck My favorite way to style a turtleneck is without a necklace - I like to pair it with a pretty earring instead - a statement earring or a simple, feminine earring. Or, throw a fun coat on as an accessory. An exception - I do love a long pendant necklace with a turtleneck poncho. Crewneck Thin, short chain necklaces do not work well with crewnecks; they can get caught on the edge of the fabric and hide inside. Instead, go bold! Bib or collar necklaces work best with a crewneck - they add the perfect finishing touch! Collared Blouse/Shirt This neckline works well with short, delicate chain necklaces or, in a nod to classic elegance, real or faux pearl chokers. For a unique look, wear a statement necklace under the collar of a buttoned up shirt-you can even layer this under a crew neck sweater. I also love the look of a collared shirt with a great pair of statement earrings. Bateau/Boat Neckline My own preference with this sharp, straight-across neckline is no necklace at all. Picture elegant Audrey Hepburn in her black bateau cocktail dress in "Sabrina". But, if you want to accent a boat neck top with a necklace, go long. Or, opt for no necklace and pair with pretty earrings. For an edgy look, throw a leather jacket on with your boat neck-so cool! Asymmetrical Neckline Offset the imbalance of a one-shoulder top with long strands that draw the eye center and down. For a different look, wear a hoop or statement earrings and a bold cuff on the wrist opposite the covered shoulder. Off The Shoulder So many accessory options! I love to pair a choker with an off the shoulder - chokers complement, but do not compete with this pretty bare shoulder look. Other stylish looks...add a long pendant necklace, statement earrings (with no necklace) or a pretty, trendy neck scarf...oh la la! Draped/Cowl Neck This neckline is already detailed and has volume, so no necklace is best. Add a pair of pretty earrings instead! A New Year, a New You! Are you frustrated with your wardrobe? Do you look in your closet, see clothes, shoes and accessories, but feel like you have nothing to wear or feel overwhelmed? As a Personal Stylist, I get into your closet with you-we decide what to keep, alter or donate and I put together new outfits with the pieces you already have in your wardrobe. I will photograph your new outfits so that you can reference them later. I will then create a prioritized shopping list of new clothes and accessories to help maximize your current wardrobe. You can purchase these pieces on your own and over time as you wish, or I can take the shopping list and do the shopping for you - you decide! Love your wardrobe, but need a few new, seasonal pieces? Do you have a special event or trip coming up? I would love to help. Cheers to the New Year! Sheri sheriterrellstylist@gmail.com www.sheriterrell.com 512-771-1590
